- Experienced at business infrastructure needs
- Integral in the formation of High Touch Managed Services
In a company fueled by innovation and change, Kevin Colborn considers himself an “intrapreneur.” Working from inside an entrepreneurial company, he constantly explores new ways to support High Touch clients. In an industry driven by change, Kevin’s work ethic and determination make him the ideal champion for long-term initiatives. During the virtualization project, he worked to consolidate High Touch servers, resulting in a reduction in power usage and a substantial return on investment. In 1998, he was heavily involved in the technology conversion of 1,440 retail stores across the U.S., a 14-week process.
Kevin’s tenure at High Touch began in 1992, but his love for technology began when he sold his first car, a 1972 Vega Coupe he had restored himself, to buy a Radio Shack TRS80 computer. When most 15-year-old boys are mowing lawns, Kevin was working as systems administrator for a nursing home corporation, a position typically held by IT and engineering graduates. He went on to earn an Associate’s degree in accounting from Hutchinson Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Wichita State University. Before joining High Touch, Kevin honed his skills in technology and systems engineering for such national and international companies as Safelite Autoglass, Datasolvers, and Pizza Hut.
Kevin’s fascination with technology motivates him to find solutions for small and mid-size businesses, a trait that made him integral in the formation of the company’s Managed Services division. Throughout his time at High Touch, he has served in client support, marketing, systems administration, and corporate systems management. And as director of IT, Kevin is indispensable in providing the vision that enables High Touch to stay on the forefront of technology, benefiting both its internal and external clients. With his aptitude for technology, and degrees in accounting and marketing, Kevin is among those rare few who are both right-brained and left-brained. His ability to see the big picture gives him the insight into the infrastructure needs of business, making him an ultimate advocate for High Touch clients.
“High Touch is an incubator for new ideas and services. We allow our customers to focus on their business, while we focus on the technology.”
